About Globalisation

Globalisation is probably one of the most controversial issues of the last decade, but too often it has been looked at from within one discipline only. The present book particularly wishes to point out to the reader that, due to its different aspects, globalisation can only be grasped from within a multi-disciplinary approach. Therefore the different authors look at the issue from a politics, law, philosophy ... point of view. The book also sheds a light on various contested topics relating to globalisation, such as information and communication technology, intellectual property rights and currency transaction taxation. This book is largely based on a collection of papers from the speakers invited by the Institute for European Studies (IES) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel to contribute to a weekly lecture series on globalisation.
