Chinese and Indian views of Europe since the crisis: New perspectives from the emerging Asian giants

In the ranking of nations China has been positioned second in the world since 2010 in terms of its GDP and some are forecasting that it may take over the US by 2020. India will lie third by 2030. How do they see the European Union and its Member States? How do they view the public debt crisis? What do they think of the euro? What political developments do they foresee as far as Europe is concerned? A series of interviews undertaken from June to September 2011 by a young, talented researcher, Karine Lisbonne de Vergeron reveal some surprises and help us to understand how the Chinese and Indian elites perceive the political and economic situation in Europe. They believe that the Union is an inevitable partner, but its construction and integration lead to real questions and are the focus of views that are sometimes surprising.
