This book will help you prepare competency-based interviews (CBI)
for competitions or selection procedures, especially those ones
organised by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) for
Administrators (AD) – Generalists and Specialists – and Assistants
(AST), to get a job in the EU institutions.
It will also be useful to guide your answers to general questions at specific interviews for EU agencies or other bodies, as those interviews usually comprise competency-based questions together with field-related questions.
Our book contains an explanation about this type of exercises; an analysis of the EPSO CBI; our method to prepare competency-based interviews; a study in detail of many questions extracted from actual interviews of EPSO competitions and other EU bodies’ selection procedures, including our sample answers; additional tips to develop your own responses, while displaying positive behaviours in your interview; and finally our conclusions and recommendations.
All this from the personal and professional experience of a successful candidate in numerous tests of the highly competitive EPSO Administrators (AD) cycle – computer-based tests, intermediate tests, and assessment centre interviews, being an official at the public administration in Spain and having held several positions as a Head of Unit from 2009 to the present, mostly in the areas of human resources, finance, programme management, law enforcement and general administration.
He has also worked as a national expert at the European Commission, gaining additional experience on communication and political affairs at the EU level, provided training to civil servants, and coached many candidates for open competitions (reasoning tests, 'talent screener', practical exercises and interviews), helping them improve their abilities and competencies.
