Shifting Borders in the European Union - Theoretical Approaches and Policy Implications in the New Neighbourhood

Under the impact of globalization, regionalization and integration, the concept of 'borders' has changed dramatically. While borders within the EU are nearly invisible, the opposite is true with regards to the borders between the EU and its external space. Shifting Borders in the European Union examines how globalization and integration have shaped the functions and character of borders within the EU and between the EU and its closer and further neighbourhood; how these changes influence European Integration; and how Europe (the EU, its institutions and the member states) respond to them. It also examines these changes and issues in relation to migration management. The book will be of interest to students and scholars of European Union Politics and International Relations.
